Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 pounds total)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions for garnish

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper on both sides.
  3. In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the chicken broth and bring it to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning some of the sauce over the top. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the chicken.
  7. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
  8. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, marinate the chicken in the seasoning mixture for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Substitute the cheddar cheese with pepper jack for a spicy kick or use a blend of your favorite cheeses for a different flavor profile.
