Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground pork or chicken
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha optional
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add water and mix until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, green onions, cabbage, rice vinegar, and sriracha (if using) until well combined.
  4. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Flatten each ball into a circle about 4 inches in diameter.
  5. Place a generous tablespoon of the filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch to seal, forming a half-moon shape.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a tablespoon of vegetable oil. Place the dumplings in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
  7. Add 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and cover immediately. Steam the dumplings for about 5 minutes until cooked through.
  8. Remove the lid and cook for an additional 2 minutes to crisp the bottoms.
  9. Serve the dumpling tacos hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
