Step-by-Step Instructions for Turkey Potato Chili
  1. Heat olive oil over medium-high heat in a large saucepan. Add diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 6-8 minutes until translucent.
  2. Stir in chili powder, ground cumin, oregano, and smoked paprika. Cook for an additional minute.
  3. Add tomato paste to the pan, cook for 1-2 minutes until it darkens slightly.
  4. Add ground turkey, breaking it apart, and cook for 6-8 minutes until browned.
  5. Stir in sweet potatoes, fire-roasted diced tomatoes, chipotles, and beef broth. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Cover and let simmer for 30-45 minutes until sweet potatoes are tender and chili thickens.
  7. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper before serving.
