Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup provolone cheese shredded
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until mushrooms are tender.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  5. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and beef broth. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken.
  6. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the shredded provolone cheese until melted and well combined.
  7. Spoon the beef mixture onto the hamburger buns and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve immediately.

  • If you prefer a lighter option, substitute ground turkey for the beef and use whole wheat buns.
