Ingredients

For the Base
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal Use the original variety for the best texture.
  • 4 cups Mini Marshmallows Mini melt more evenly than regular marshmallows.
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Choosing unsalted allows better control over salinity.
  • 1 cup Creamy Peanut Butter Opt for shelf-stable for optimal mixture stability.
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips Swap for milk chocolate or dark chocolate for a different flavor.

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Spatula
  • 9x13-inch Baking Pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Microwave

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of unsalted butter and 1 cup of creamy peanut butter over medium heat. Stir continuously for about 4-5 minutes until the mixture is glossy and fully combined.
  2. Add 4 cups of mini marshmallows to the saucepan and stir constantly for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the marshmallows are completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly fold in 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal using a spatula. Stir gently for about 1-2 minutes, ensuring all cereal is evenly coated.
  4. Prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper. Pour the cereal mixture into the pan and spread it evenly, gently pressing down to ensure it's compact.
  5. Microwave 1/4 cup of creamy peanut butter and 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring in between until both are melted.
  6. Once both the peanut butter and chocolate are melted, pour the peanut butter over your base layer, drizzle the melted chocolate on top, and swirl them together.
  7. Allow your treats to cool at room temperature for 1-2 hours, or refrigerate for about 30-45 minutes to set. Once firm, slice into squares.
