Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add sliced smoked sausage and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove sausages and set aside.
  2. Lower the heat to medium. Add chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until soft. Add minced garlic and stir for another 30 seconds.
  3. Add uncooked long grain rice, stirring to coat with oil. Toast for 2-3 minutes until lightly golden.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and barbecue sauce. Stir to deglaze the pan and bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Return sausages to the skillet, stir, and cover. Cook for 18-20 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  6. Once rice is tender and liquid absorbed, remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley before serving.
