Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it is warm but not boiling. Remove from heat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, salt, and nutmeg until well combined.
  4. Slowly pour the warm milk into the egg mixture while whisking continuously to prevent the eggs from scrambling.
  5. Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow to cool to room temperature. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
