Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a mini muffin tin.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
In another bowl, combine the milk, egg, and melted butter, then mix well.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
Gently fold in the cooked sausage and shredded cheese until evenly distributed.
Spoon the batter into the prepared mini muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the bites to cool for a few minutes before removing them from the tin.
Drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
