Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean mixing bowl, add egg whites and cream of tartar. Beat at medium speed until frothy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Gradually sprinkle in granulated sugar while beating on medium-high speed for 8-10 minutes until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold in green gel food coloring to your meringue.
  5. Transfer the meringue to a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe in a tree shape on the baking sheet.
  6. Bake the meringue trees for 45-50 minutes until dry to the touch.
  7. Let the meringues cool in the oven for at least 1 hour, or ideally overnight.
