  • 1 lb New York Strip steak Ribeye or flank steak can also be used.
  • 1 tsp Salt For seasoning.
  • 1 tsp Black pepper For seasoning.
  • 2 tbsp Butter Optional for basting.
For the Onions
  • 2 medium Yellow onions Can substitute with shallots or sweet onions.
  • 2 tbsp Balsamic glaze For drizzling over caramelized onions.
For the Aioli and Greens
  • 1/2 cup Lemon herb aioli Store-bought or homemade.
  • 2 cups Fresh arugula Can use spinach or other leafy greens.
For the Bread
  • 1 loaf Ciabatta Crispy bread good for holding filling.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Bring New York Strip steak to room temperature, season with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat skillet over medium-high, sear steak for 1 minute each side or until desired doneness, basting with butter if desired.
  3. In the same skillet, caramelize sliced onions with salt for 10-15 mins until golden, adding balsamic glaze at the end.
  4. Toast ciabatta until golden and crispy.
  5. Assemble by spreading aioli on ciabatta, layering arugula, steak, and caramelized onions, then drizzle with more balsamic glaze.
  6. Slice in half and serve immediately.
