- In a large bowl, combine softened cream cheese, mayonnaise (or sour cream), garlic powder, onion powder, and a sprinkle of salt and black pepper. Beat the mixture on medium speed for about 2-3 minutes until it transforms into a smooth and creamy base.

- Stir in most of the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, reserving a handful for the topping.
