  • 2 pounds Fresh Chicken Wings
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch or arrowroot starch for gluten-free
  • 1 tablespoon Nonstick Cooking Spray or vegetable oil
For the Marinade
  • 1 medium Lime can be omitted
  • 2 cups Cold Water
  • 1 cup White Vinegar
For the Glaze
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter or margarine for dairy-free
  • 1/2 cup Hot Sauce e.g., Frank’s RedHot
  • 1/3 cup Honey or maple syrup for vegan
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Lemon Juice or vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Pepper Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika or regular paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon Hot Chili Powder optional
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the juice of one lime with cold water and a splash of white vinegar. Submerge the fresh chicken wings in this mixture and allow them to wash thoroughly for about 5 minutes, removing any residue.
  2. Drain the wings and pat them dry with paper towels.
Cooking
  1. Arrange the washed chicken wings on a baking sheet lined with paper towels.
  2. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, lemon pepper seasoning, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and hot chili powder.
  4. Toss the dried chicken wings in the seasoning mix, ensuring each piece is evenly coated.
  5. Place the seasoned chicken wings in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket and cook for 25 minutes, flipping every 5 minutes.
  6. While the wings are cooking, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in hot sauce, honey, fresh lemon juice, and lemon pepper seasoning.
  7. After 5 minutes, toss the cooked wings in the hot honey lemon pepper sauce.
