Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1.5 teaspoons of kosher salt, and 1 teaspoon of instant yeast. Use a whisk to blend everything thoroughly until well mixed.
- Pour in 1.5 cups of warm water along with 4 cloves of minced garlic and a handful of your favorite chopped fresh herbs, such as rosemary or thyme. Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon until a shaggy, sticky dough forms.
- Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
- About 30 minutes before you're ready to bake, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a Dutch oven (with the lid on) inside to heat up.
- Once preheated, carefully remove the hot Dutch oven and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, swirling it around to coat the bottom.
- Transfer the rested dough onto a well-floured surface. Shape it into a ball.
- Place the shaped dough into the preheated Dutch oven. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the lid and continue to bake for another 15 to 20 minutes until the bread turns a deep golden brown.
- Once baked, carefully transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool for at least 20 minutes.

Notes
For best results, use a kitchen scale for precise flour measurements. Avoid lifting the lid during the first 30 minutes of baking to maintain steam.
