Preparation Steps
- Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and honey or sugar, stirring until dissolved. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the mixture and let it foam for about 10 minutes.
- Step 2: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Pour the foamy yeast mixture and olive oil into the well, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
- Step 3: Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 to 3 hours.
- Step 4: Melt the salted butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add minced garlic and chopped parsley, simmering for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Step 5: Once risen, pour the garlic-herb butter over the dough and stretch and fold the dough eight times. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Step 6: Generously grease a baking pan with olive oil. Place the dough in the pan, stretching it to fit, and cover it to rise for another 45 minutes.
- Step 7: Preheat your oven to 450°F. Dimple the surface of the dough, sprinkle with Parmesan, drizzle with olive oil, and bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown.
- Step 8: Allow to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
