Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Place a wire rack on top for even crisping.
  2. Peel and slice the sweet onions into ½-inch thick circles, separating the rings.
  3. In one Ziploc bag, add the corn starch. In a separate bowl, mix grated Parmesan, paprika, and garlic powder.
  4. Beat the egg whites in a clean bowl until frothy.
  5. Set up your assembly line: start with onion rings, then the bag of corn starch, the bowl of egg whites, and the bag with the cheese coating.
  6. Coat each onion ring with corn starch, then egg whites, and finally the cheese mixture, placing them on the wire rack.
  7. Bake for 11-14 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the oven and serve immediately with your choice of dipping sauces.
