Step‑by‑Step Instructions
- In a large pot, combine 4 cups of real apple cider and 2 cups of pure cranberry juice over medium heat. Stir in 1/4 cup of brown sugar until it dissolves completely, which will take about 3-4 minutes.
 - Place 4 cloves, 2 cinnamon sticks, and 1 star of anise into a small piece of cheesecloth or muslin bag for easy removal later. Drop the spice sachet into the pot and stir to incorporate the flavors.
 - Add 1/4 cup of fresh cranberries to the pot, allowing their tartness to infuse into your cider. Keep the heat on medium and watch as the cranberries start to pop gently after about 5 minutes.
 - Once everything is combined, bring the pot to a boil briefly before reducing the heat to low. Let the mixture simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
 - After simmering, carefully remove the spice sachet and discard it. If you prefer a clearer drink, strain the cider through a fine-mesh sieve into clean mugs or glasses.
 - Finally, garnish each glass with a slice of lemon or orange, and a few whole fresh cranberries for a festive touch. Serve warm.

Notes
Use a slow cooker on low to maintain the perfect drinking temperature for your gatherings. Adjust the brown sugar according to your taste or swap it with honey or maple syrup for natural sweetness.
