Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup granulated sugar for topping
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for topping

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the ½ cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon for the topping. Sprinkle half of this mixture over the batter in the loaf pan.
  7. Pour the remaining batter over the topping, then sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
