Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup cookie dough store-bought or homemade

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Beat in the vanilla extract and egg until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Take small portions of the cookie dough and roll them into ropes, about 6 inches long.
  8. Twist each rope and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each twist.
  9. Using a small spoon, place a dollop of cookie dough on top of each twist.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  11. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding 1/4 cup of chopped nuts or a pinch of sea salt on top before baking.
  • You can substitute the semi-sweet chocolate chips with milk chocolate or dark chocolate chips for a different taste.
