Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 15-ounce can pizza sauce
  • 1 16-ounce package frozen tater tots
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Add the pizza sauce and mix well. Remove from heat.
  4. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spread the beef mixture evenly across the bottom.
  5. Layer the frozen tater tots over the beef mixture, arranging them in a single layer.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the tater tots, followed by the sliced pepperoni and grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
