Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water about 110°F
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish, optional)

Method

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Transfer to a greased baking sheet.
  7. Brush the melted butter over the dough and sprinkle with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut the dough into strips.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve warm.
