Ingredients

  • 2 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Method

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about ¼ inch thick.
  3. Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
  4. In a large bowl, toss the dried potato strips with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  5. Place the seasoned fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  6. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking, until the fries are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the fries from the air fryer and garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, try double frying the potatoes: cook them at a lower temperature (around 350°F) for 10 minutes, let them cool, then increase the temperature to 400°F for the final crisping.
  • Experiment with different seasonings like Cajun seasoning, chili powder, or even a sprinkle of parmesan cheese after cooking for added flavor.
