Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour for gravy
  • 2 cups milk for gravy
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • Chopped parsley for garnish optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in 3/4 cup of milk until just combined.
  2. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 1 minute. Roll out to fit a pizza pan or baking sheet. Place the dough on the pan and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  3. While the crust is baking, cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Remove the sausage and drain excess fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the pan.
  4. In the same skillet, add 1/4 cup of flour and stir for about 1 minute. Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens. Add black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir in the cooked sausage.
  5. Once the crust is done, remove it from the oven and spread the sausage gravy evenly over the top. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the gravy.
  6. Crack the eggs directly onto the pizza, spacing them out evenly. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until the eggs are set to your liking.
  7. Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and slice into wedges to serve.
