Cooking Instructions
- Heat 1½ to 2 inches of vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pan to 360°F.
- Mix ½ cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon in a bowl, set aside.
- In a saucepan, combine ½ cup butter, 1 cup water, 1 tablespoon sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup flour until a dough forms. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- Beat in 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth.
- Pipe 1-1½ inch pieces into hot oil, frying 6-8 at a time for 90 seconds to 2 minutes.
- Transfer to paper towels to drain, then roll in cinnamon sugar mixture while warm.
- Serve warm with caramel or chocolate sauce.
